Homes 'could be flooded' as Met Office warns of heavy rain in Bolton and Bury

The Met Office has warned of heavy rain set to hit Bury and parts of Bolton this week.

Forecasters have issued a severe weather warning covering Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Experts say the conditions could lead to some flooding and potential disruption to transport.

The downpours are set to arrive on Monday afternoon , with the Met Office predicting an 80% or higher chance of rain from 3pm which will continue throughout the night until noon on Tuesday.

The warning covers a region stretching across most of Lancashire up to the Lake District in the north and Sheffield in the south.

As a result of the rain, residents are being warned to expect possible power cuts and potential road closures in more rural areas.

There is also a likelihood of flooding, especially in areas where the river levels have remained high in recent weeks.

Temperatures will remain around 6°C throughout most of Monday with a similar outlook on Tuesday.
