Homer Glen mansion on market for $3.75 million

Nov. 02--A six-bedroom mansion on 13 acres in southwest suburban Homer Glen came on the market last week for $3.75 million.

Known as "Blackrock Estate," the property has as its centerpiece a 12,000-square-foot French Provincial-style stone house that was built in 2007 and has 9 full and one half baths, custom windows, two balconies off the second floor, extensive woodwork, double-sided fireplaces, a sport court, a walk-out basement with a full kitchen and bar, a gym, a sauna and a steam room.

"The two-story family room has so much detail with a coffered ceiling, double-sided fireplace and a library overlooking it," said listing agent Michael LaFido of Conlon.

Outside on the property are an in-ground pool, a soccer field and a dirt bike trail. The land backs up to a nature preserve, Long Run Creek and the fifth hole of Old Oak Country Club. The 13 acres allow an owner five additional home sites to develop, LaFido said.

"Someone could build their own little compound for their family," he said. "And the setting is absolutely amazing."

The listing is far and away Homer Glen's most expensive for a single-family home, although a 17-acre farm being marketed for development has a higher price tag. The second most expensive home listing in Homer Glen is a four-bedroom, 10,019-square-foot mansion on 10.83 acres on 159th Street that is available for $2.6 million.
