Homeowner 'seriously hurt' in 'terrifying' aggravated burglary

A homeowner was assaulted in a ‘terrifying’ aggravated burglary in Altrincham, police say.

Detectives are continuing to hunt for the three men who carried out the alleged assault and burglary at 10:30pm on Friday (November 18). The incident took place on Ashley Road in the Trafford town.

GMP say three men were reported to have broken into the property and assaulted the 66-year-old owner, who was seriously injured but is now thankfully in a stable condition. No arrests have been made as of Saturday evening.

The three assailants took multiple possessions from the property including jewellery, Detective Constable Luke Miller said. The DC, from the force’s Trafford division, added: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim who is thankfully now in a stable condition although he is lucky not to have suffered more grievous injuries as the offenders were clearly armed and dangerous.

"We are committed to tracking down those responsible. Our enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone who may have been in the Ashley Road area of Altrincham at the time. Anyone who may have witnessed anything - or may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident - is encouraged to get in touch."

Two of the offenders have been described as white, aged approximately 24-25 years and around 5ft 7in in height. They were both of slim build and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas. The third offender has been described as white and older with a round face. He was also wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information should report it by calling 0161 856 7525 quoting incident number 3474 of 18/11/2022.

Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
