Homeowner's horror as army called to inspect suspicious device discovered in Finglas garden

A Dublin homeowner's relaxing Friday was turned into a horror show after a suspect device feared to be a bomb was discovered in their garden by them.

Army bomb disposal units arrived at the scene in Finglas just after 4pm today to deal with the suspected bomb, which was deemed a dud by the experts.

Worried locals gathered onto the streets after Gardai were called to the scene on McKee Road in Finglas shortly before 3pm after reports of the discovery of a suspicious device.

Dublin Live understands that someone in the area found the device while carrying out gardening duties in the area.

Gardai confirmed to Dublin Live that they had "attended the scene of an incident this afternoon, Friday 24th April 2020 at McKee Road, Finglas".

They continued: "A device was located in the garden of a house and Gardaí cordoned off the area and contacted the EOD team.

"Upon arrival and after examination of the device it was declared a hoax."
