In a video viewed millions of times, they pulled up the carpet to reveal extensive blood stains on the underside of the carpet.
"At first we weren't sure what it was. But the more we found, the more obvious it was blood. Like…an alarming amount of blood," the owner explained.
The owners created an account of TikTok after purchasing the home, which was built in 1911, on October 22, to show the renovations.
They excitedly described its "unique features" as they embarked on a renovation job, before the journey turned chilling as they tore up the dark green carpeting.
"There was a surprise waiting for us," the owner said. "We stumbled upon some suspicious stains under the carpet."
"At first we weren't sure what it was. But the more we found, the more obvious it was blood. Like… an alarming amount of blood.'
The video shows several patches of dried blood under the carpet, suggesting that a serious amount was spilled.
They promptly called the police who "confirmed that it looked like blood, but said they couldn't be sure if it was human or animal without testing it."
The owner said officers told them that they would check to see if there were any cases linked to the property before carrying out tests, but "didn't seem to be very interested.''
"The cops didn't do tests or take samples. They did say it was most likely blood, but thatthey don't do those types of testing unless they have strong suspicion of foul play," they added.
In another video, the owner also showed off some other eerie things in the house, including finger painting on the walls in the basement, reminiscent of ancient drawings on cave walls.
The videos racked up millions of views, with people urging the owners to keep them updated on what they find.
One wrote: "Doesn't old blood go brown? That looks like old red wine stains. Well, I hope it's red wine."
Another warned: "That area was ripe with criminal activity for many years."
A third added: "That's a crime scene."
