"Homemade weapons" were used by angry kids last night as 100s clashed in what is believed to be an ongoing "feud" among Dublin youngsters.
The throngs of teenagers took over East Timor Park in Ballyfermot last night as part of a large and premeditated fight meet-up as Dublin Live revealed earlier.
Officers were deployed to the park immediately with two armed support cars, two undercover cars and a Garda van at the scene almost immediately.
Sinn Féin Councillor for the area and Chair of the Joint-Policing Committee Daithí Doolan does not believe that the children involved in the violence are locals of the west suburb.
He said: "There was a pre-arranged fight between two gangs, neither I think were from Ballyfermot.
"There were reports of some style of homemade weapons being used as well. It is believed to be related to an ongoing feud."
Dublin Live understands that the groups descended and inflicted that much terror onto the area that families and walkers in the park immediately left.
Gardai managed to clear the area and no serious injuries were reported at the gathering.
A source told Dublin Live: "Another organised fight took place as part of an ongoing turf war in the area.
"Two armed support cars, two undercover cars and a Garda van were sent down to the scene.
"The youngsters fled in the direction of the Memorial Gardens and Liffey Gaels.
"They brought so much attention to themselves going down in such large crowds."
A spokesman for Gardai told Dublin Live: "We attended a public order incident on the Sarsfield Road, at approximately 6:30pm.
He added: "No arrests were made and investigations ongoing."
