Homeless woman, 60s, with dementia rushed to Dublin hospital after sleeping overnight in rain

A woman in her late 60s who suffers from dementia was taken to a Dublin Hospital yesterday after sleeping overnight in the rain.

Inner City Helping Homeless founder Anthony Flynn shared the pictures of the helpless lady on Twitter on Thursday.

Emergency services attended the scene and brought the woman to hospital after being drenched while sleeping on the streets.

Anthony Flynn said: "Society is failing our elderly!!!!

"This morning we have been called to a lady who slept in the rain last night.

"The lady, (who) was soaked to the bone, is in her late 60s suffering with dementia. She has been transported to hospital."

Mr Flynn later added: "Things are worse than I have ever seen them before.

"The system is in turmoil and those who operate it are in denial."

Replying to a comment on his tweet asking if he expects the situation to ever improve, he said: "Unfortunately not in the immediate future."

Sharing an update last night, Mr Flynn said: "Our team has been with this woman all day.

"We have identified who she is and are working with the hospital to keep her comfortable.

"The Mater are unbelievable. The lady will remain in hospital for the coming days."
