Smart new trainers are set to be handed out to homeless people in Liverpool thanks to some kind-hearted businessmen.
The owners of a new, Liverpool-based online shoe retailer - Fino Footwear - are making the generous donation of custom-made shoes to those sleeping rough in the city.
Fino is run by Scouse friends Mark and Tony, who design shoes and trainers that are then custom made in Portugal and sold online.
The duo have been operating the business for around a year while holding down full-time jobs.
One of their recent batches of shoes contained around 80-90 pairs with very minor defects, which meant they didn't want to sell them.
So they have instead decided to donate the smart shoes to the homeless people of Liverpool.
A spokesperson for Fino Footwear explained: "We have a number of pairs of shoes that we don't want to sell because of very minor defects such as small stitching issues.
"These won't affect the shoes themselves but meant we didn't want to sell them on our site.
"We thought the best thing to do would be to give them to the homeless people of Liverpool.
"They are smart shoes and would perhaps help someone if they were attending a job interview or other appointments to try and get back on their feet."
"We are local lads from Liverpool and we think it would be nice to give something back."
The shoes in question are from Fino's classics range and would usually retail for around £80 per pair.
The spokesperson added: "We just hope some people in need will benefit from these shoes."
