Homeless Leeds man, 36, found dead in bushes near M621 at Hunslet named by police

A homeless Leeds man who was found dead in bushes next to the M621 in Hunslet has been named.

Edward Franklin's body was found on Tuesday afternoon near to a footbridge which goes over the motorway at Burton Row.

It is not yet known how he died with a post-mortem examination failing to establish a cause of death.

Mr Franklin, who was 36, was known to frequent the city centre as part of the street community and was last seen near to Kirkgate Market at about 10.30am on Saturday, August 29.

Now, police in Leeds are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to his death and are calling on the public to help trace his movements leading up to the moment he was found dead on Tuesday at 4.24pm.

Earlier this week, a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with Mr Franklin's death. He has since been released on police bail and now the force is calling for anyone who saw Mr Franklin over a 10-day period to get in touch.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers are appealing for anyone who saw him in the vicinity of where his body was found or anywhere else at any point between Saturday, August 29, and Tuesday, September 8."
