Homeless Awareness Week 5-a-side Cup 2019 is happening in Belfast

Five-a-side teams are being encouraged to take part in a special football tournament in Belfast next week.

The Homeless Awareness Week 5-a-side Cup 2019 is being held on Friday, November 29.

The competition is being run by Street Soccer NI and will kick-off at 12.30pm at Ormeau Park.

And it is free to enter, with lunch and water provided!

"We host it every year during Homeless Awareness Week and invite homeless hostels, refugee centres, housing associations and other voluntary organisations," said a Street Soccer NI spokesperson.

"It was originally hosted by Council for the Homeless every year and then we took it over about six years ago.

"We are expecting about 16 teams for the five-a-side tournament. There will be a separate event for women as well.

"We are hoping to get a women’s team to play against our street soccer girls."

Anyone interested in registering a team should contact Justin at 07704 904714 or justin@streetsoccerni.org
