Homeland has recruited Laila Robins and Corey Stoll for its upcoming fourth season.

Robins, known for her work in Bored to Death, will be a series regular on the Showtime series. Her character, Martha Boyd, is US ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

House of Cards' Stoll will guest star as the CIA chief in Pakistan, Sandy Bachman.

Series lead Claire Danes will return for the fourth season, along with regular cast members including Mandy Patinkin, Nazanin Boniadi and Rupert Friend.

David Nevins, president of Showtime, said season four will be "a big reset”, putting Danes’ character Carrie Mathison in the field overseas.

“Homeland is a show that is deeply about a field operative [Carrie], and we haven’t seen her much in the field,” he said. “In season four you will likely see her on the ground in a foreign capital doing her job.”

Season four production will begin this month in Cape Town, South Africa, ahead of its fall premiere. The first three seasons were shot in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Homeland won a primetime Emmy for outstanding drama series in 2012 and a Golden Globe for best television series in 2011 and 2012.
