Homebase in Edinburgh is now open despite coronavirus lockdown as part of nationwide trial

Homebase has joined a growing number of companies that have begun reopening to the public after police updated guidance to say DIY stores could open their doors again.

While some have expressed concerns over the move, epic queues were spotted outside B&Q at Edinburgh's Newcraighall when it reopened last week.

Homebase at Craigleith has now also officially reopened to "huge queues" on Saturday (25 April), along with 20 other branches nationwide.

Before reopening, Homebase were operating a click & collect service for customers with high demand for products as people turn to sprucing up their homes during lockdown.

According to the retailer's website, Homebase Craigleith has reopened but there are "strict controls in place to ensure shopping is safe for everyone", which are likely to comply with social distancing guidance.

The decision to open selected Homebase stores is part of a trial, which could see further branches opened across the country.
