Home Under the Hammer's Dion Dublin in disbelief over lowest home price in show history

Homes Under The Hammer host Dion Dublin was left speechless after discovering the lowest house price in the show’s history.

The presenter was shocked after learning the home’s guide price was at just £10,000.

Located in Grimethorpe, South Yorkshire, the three-bedroom, semi-detached home had ‘no chance’ of being priced that low, according to the BBC presenter.

“This is the lowest guide price I’ve ever come across, and it will never sell for this, absolutely no chance – £10,000?” he explained to viewers.

“Okay right, before we start the tour around the house, has anybody noticed what kind of house this is? Anybody?”

He continued: “I’ll get back to you. Right, the house itself has got a sort of porch area and a downstairs loo.

“Then it takes you into the kitchen – a bit of a breakfast bar. The kitchen and the breakfast bar have kind of seen better days.”

Even with the low guide price, the house was eventually sold for around £40,000.

After it was refurbished, the price skyrocketed to an estimated £90,000-£100,000.

Homes Under The Hammer first aired 18 years ago and follows Dion, Martin Roberts and Martel Maxwell as they journey around the country to find out who bought houses at auctions and why.

Many series were cancelled in the last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Homes Under The Hammer powered through to entertain viewers with endless weird and wonderful properties.

Discussing the show's plans to Express.co.uk last year, the host explained: “So Homes Under the Hammer got put on hold, so we haven't really done much filming on that since March.

“We've done a few days here and there and we've tried a new way of filming where it's just me and a cameraman - that seems to be working.”
