Home organiser shares three mistakes people are making when cleaning their homes

Keeping on top of the house work can be a tough task, especially when life gets hectic around the festive season.

However, there are some common mistakes that people make when it comes to cleaning and organising.

A TikTok user took to social media to share the three main mistakes we all may be making when faced with a whole house in disarray - reports The Mirror.

TikTok user @styledneatly posted a video sharing ways to keep your home looking in tip top shape.

The video covers a lot so you may want to take notes.

In her video, the woman – who is only known on TikTok as Styled Neatly – explained that you should only ever focus on one room at a time, and you shouldn’t give up no matter how long the task takes.

And one of the woman’s biggest tips is to avoid buying any sort of storage containers until you have a definite plan of how you want to use each one.

She said: “Three things not to do when organising your home.

“Number one: Don’t try to tackle the whole house at once.

“Number two: Don’t go out and buy a whole bunch of baskets and other containers that you don’t have a plan for.

“And number three: Don’t give up if it’s taking longer than you expected it to.”

The woman’s video has over 270,000 views – and commenters were quick to agree with her helpful tips.

One person posted: “I literally have picked areas in a room to work on a day, then I clean and declutter the area, then I look to see what containers I need for that area.”

And another wrote: “Our apartment took me one year to finally complete the interior that I want. Took so long but so worth it. No unnecessary stuff was bought.”

As a third said: “Yes. I clean one room a day. And I only buy storage if I know what I’m going to do with it.”

The woman also continued to give tips out to those in the comments, as one person specifically asked for help tackling “paper clutter”.

The commenter said: “I struggle with paper clutter … papers, bills, etc. keep increasing and I write or jot down things on paper, and this accumulates.”

To which Styled Neatly replied: “Paper clutter is tough! Maybe keep one notebook for all your notes. And set a weekly time to sort through any papers & get rid of what you don’t need.”
