I would be grateful if you can help me as I urgently need my passport for a job interview with the European Commission. I sent my old British passport to the Home Office to be renewed, together with my wife's visa application, in July 2010, but I've had no response.
I requested my passport back, via my solicitor, but no joy. It's my passport and I paid for it, so that's one year lost in fees and they have taken away my freedom of movement, even though my wife's application was straightforward. I called the Home Office explaining I need to travel to Europe for my interview and desperately need my passport. I even offered to collect it, but that was rejected. I offered extra money to get it fast but again that was rejected. All they said is that it could take 10 days to deliver. Basically, the Home Office is withholding my passport without a reason. The Home Office said it only received your application on 2 June 2011. Clearly, someone is mistaken. Regardless, a Home Office spokesman told me your passport would be with you within two days – and you have since confirmed receipt of the document. So you can now attend your interview in Brussels.
