Home of evil Scots child killer Aaron Campbell sold five years after Alesha MacPhail murder

The house where evil Aaron Campbell lived has been sold five years after he brutally murdered schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail.

The detached four-bedroom villa in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute had been put on the market last year for a fixed price of £230,000.

It has now emerged the empty property, which had previously been targeted and vandalised, has been sold for £200,000 to a private buyer.

Documents show it has now been registered to Jill McCabe of Gartcosh, Lanarkshire.

The asking price had previously been reduced by a Glasgow-based estate agent. The Campbell family bought it for for £170,000 in 2010.

A sales brochure described the house as a 'traditional detached period home' set in 'generous' grounds.

Photographs showed the interior of the property including Campbell's former bedroom which had been stripped bare.

A trampoline, which Campbell used to film YouTube videos, was also highlighted in an overgrown area of the garden.

Campbell, 20, was caught on camera skulking back to his family home under the cover of darkness after he snatched six-year-old Alesha from her bed and murdered her in nearby woodland.

A source said: "It wasn't obvious at all that the house was even up for sale and they've had some real difficulty getting it sold.

"The price was cut last year and it's taken until now for someone to buy it."

Earlier this week, Alesha's heartbroken mum Georgina Lochrane paid tribute to her daughter on the fifth anniversary of her death.

In a post online, she said: "Five whole horrible heartbreaking years without you.

"Not a single day goes by where we don't think about you or talk about you Alesha you are included in everything we do. Our full world came crashing down.

"Five years to this date you were ripped from our lives and life hasn't ever been the same you're the biggest part missing from us all and we miss you so much every single moment.

"What I would do to bring you back."

Vile Campbell was aged just 16 when he took Alesha from her grandparent's house in July 2018.

He raped and murdered his victim and left her with 117 injuries before he returned home.

Her naked body was found the next day after a huge search operation was launched on the island.

Images of Campbell jumping a wall at the front of the property and creeping back in after he had killed the youngster became central in the prosecution case against him.

His trial at the High Court in Glasgow heard Campbell crept back into his house after killing Alesha and took a shower before he disposed of clothing on the shoreline.

He denied any wrongdoing and tried to blame the killing on Alesha's dad's girlfriend but he was convicted by a jury in February 2019.

The monster later confessed all to social workers and told them he had to 'zip his mouth shut' during the trial to stop himself laughing.

Judge Lord Matthews jailed Campbell for a minimum of 27 years which was later reduced to 24 years on appeal.
