Finding an expensive product on sale is a win. One that is marked down to a penny? An almost unheard-of bargain. One Home Depot customer achieved this difficult feat by scoring a paint sprayer for just a penny.
@ticklesdealz has an impressive 21,000 following for posting content about “clearance deals, hacks, tips, and finds.” This time, he brings more than 38,000 viewers on a trip to Home Depot.
“Yo, this might be the craziest deal I have ever found,” he declares. When he walks inside the store, he points to a Magnum Pro210ES Airless Electric paint sprayer on the shelf. “This $1,000 sprayer is ringing up for just one penny right now,” he says.
“Go to the paint section and look for the exact sprayer,” the content creator states, heading straight to it. Although the device is listed at $988, @ticklesdealz claims the register will say otherwise. “When you scan it or take it to the register, it hits for a penny, no joke. Home Depot is clearing these out quietly. They don’t even advertise it,” he explains. As proof, he reveals the receipt with a one-cent price tag printed.
“$1,000 PAINT SPRAYER FOR $0.01?! Home Depot is secretly clearing this $1,000 sprayer for just ONE CENT,” @ticklesdealz reiterates in the caption. “Go to the paint section and look for this exact one. The tag still says $997, but when scanned…”
What did viewers say?
Unfortunately, those who rushed to their nearest Home Depot to purchase the same paint sprayer were charged full price.
“Wish this was true I need a new one bad,” one viewer remarked.
“I just scanned it and it’s 998.00,” another shared.
“Just went down to the local [Home Depot] liar it’s scanned at 998.00,” a third echoed.
“I checked and it’s still original price. Maybe different locations have different deals,” a fourth revealed.
Why does Home Depot price items at one cent?
Delish states how these merchandise are deliberately reduced to a penny to alert employees to remove them from the shelf. However, employees sometimes miss these items, leaving them up for grabs. In fact, there is a growing phenomenon on social media called “Penny Shopping” where people hunt for penny items, most commonly at Dollar General. Because this merchandise is supposed to be deleted from the system, this is a secret kept under wraps; most shoppers don’t mention penny items in front of employees.

How to find penny products at Home Depot
The Krazy Coupon Lady listed her methods for finding them:
- Check the clearance section and endcaps
- Search for clearance price tags ending in “.02,” “.03”, or “.04.” Products with these numbers typically drop within 14 weeks but may take longer
- Scan the UPC barcode on the product at self-checkout or in-store scanners
Keep in mind, every location is different and doesn’t have penny products available. When trying this out, results may vary.
