Having run my garden maintenance business for over 10 years now, spending much of my time outside without access to the internet or sometimes even a phone signal, it is easy to become cut-off from the media-savvy world. This year I decided to redress the balance and start writing a blog to showcase the work we do and share the beauty of the world we live in.
I had no idea who would read the blog or whether anyone would be interested in anything I wrote, or how it might even help the business. Since February 2014, I have written more than 160 posts and had over 4,500 views from visitors from 72 different countries.
I have also become an avid photographer, both with stills and video, and an enthusiastic reader of blogs within the gardening world and outside of it. I have developed greater online communication with my present clients and am ready to take the business forward to another level exploring different avenues of sharing information with garden owners. Most importantly, as a middle-aged woman, I can embrace the future as an experienced gardener and small business owner with far more excitement and enthusiasm now, rather than with the anxiety of the physical toll that gardening for another 15 years or so could bring.
