Underneath a mountain of photographs somewhere in Wales there is a scanner and laptop. It is from this cupboard that Salvage Photographs merges old and new images to create bespoke photo gifts.
Our unique service can reach customers anywhere in the world, and operates fundamentally as an online business. And it is hoped that it will flourish.
As a startup business, Salvage Photographs had a good idea. The devices and processes are well established – a scanner, laptop, Photoshop and lightroom – but no similar businesses seemed to be using these things to create something really special.
Salvage Photographs discovered that most people carry old photographs. Anything could be combined if it could be thought of: grandmothers, mothers and daughters on their wedding days, families standing next to older versions of themselves, granddad’s Triumph motorbike in its heyday propped with his grandson’s Kawasaki.
The business started without taking out a loan, by designing the website and brand ourselves. By using online printing services the cupboard is not subject to business rates, nor is a photo printer required. Customers are reached by considered social media posts, which are free.
Customers are starting to arrive, and if home innovation means they can find something new and unique, then Salvage Photographs belongs there.
