Over the last 12 months I have developed the business so that I now only work directly with my own clients. I build websites and help companies with their online marketing.

Having a website isn’t just a box that needs to be ticked – it needs to be an investment and should pull you in more money than you would make without it. This is a point I’ve been putting across this year.

I now have a member of staff who works in the home office with me, as well as a few external suppliers, who help by taking tasks off my plate that aren’t developing the business further. I have developed new ways in which we can help our clients to win more business, and by doing this our clients stay with us. This means they stay on our books, and we have created a monthly ongoing income in the business. This gives stability as it’s not a one-off fee for doing a website then leaving it at that.

I wouldn’t want to take on a client now where we only build them a website. I would want to sit down with them and develop a strategy to make that website work for them and their business. If their website doesn’t win them any leads or sales then we have failed our clients – and I can’t allow that!
