Funky Readers have a passion for making on-trend reading glasses, sunglasses and eyewear accessories for mainland Europe and UK boutiques. The glasses are available across the world, including in the UK, via our online shop.
This passion was inspired by Judith Cunningham and husband Martin when they were on a trip to Siena and noticed that reading glasses on the continent were much more innovative and fashionable than in the UK. Funky Readers’ online shop was formed the same month, although initially business was slow. As a result, we decided to take the home business on the road, investing in a caravan (affectionately named La Traviata – the working girl!) and travelling around the UK to shows.
We feel that taking the decision to invest in purchasing a caravan is a real demonstration of the passion the Funky Readers team have for their products, and shows the level of belief in, and ambition for, what Funky Readers represents.
Since summer, Funky Readers has returned to a more established home office, but the impact of the caravan summer is still being felt. As well as seeing a large upturn in orders (with hundreds of customers and a new buyer every day), Funky Readers have also seen their brand go international, with orders from Brazil, New Zealand, the US and Denmark all being placed. We have also introduced a number of new lines, including accessories and sun readers.
