Twelve years of interim management experience showed me that businesses of all sizes need clarity of process and people with the right skills and knowledge to give return on any investment; whether systems or other infrastructure. Applying this knowledge to SMEs at the foundation stage of business provides greater stability, flexibility and scalability with better survival rates in formative years.
Fortalis launched in 2011 as an entirely virtual shared service to SMEs remotely delivering services using hosted systems and VoIP telephony. Our community of home based professionals work for our clients delivering call handling, diary management, documentation and importantly insight reporting; measuring activity and results against customers’ strategy or plans.
Our first customer is still with Fortalis; who within 12 months of our service starting doubled their turnover and increased their profit. We are hugely proud of our customers’ achievement. After all, our success is the success of our customers.
Fortalis now have 20 home workers across the UK and Europe and in 2013-2014 increased turnover by 272%. We plan significant growth in 2015 with ambitious plans to deliver this. Our home-working community is fundamental to our success, and we are striving to raise awareness of the professionalism of home based workers. We take pride in our support to them in terms of industry knowledge, motivational techniques, and help with successfully working from home.
2015 will be hugely exciting for Fortalis as we expect positive changes to the perception of virtual homeworking teams by businesses both large and small.
