Most of us have had some form of adult skills training: hot rooms, nerves jangling, turgid introductions going on forever. I don’t believe it’s the greatest start.
The materials for my management, sales and professional training are fun, natural, practical and designed to minimise pressure. So instead of enrolling in a business or startup centre I thought I would capture the spirit of the product and combine this with how we are programmed to learn best.
I personally contacted thousands of business leaders through networking, telephone calls and marketing, and invited them to briefings where interaction and fun was at the heart of my message. Fun, casual interaction is assured as training takes place in a converted 200-year-old chapel off the M1 just outside Woburn Abbey and Woburn Safari Park.
Clients draw pictures on tent cards, and the sessions are highly interactive. Those guests who become clients attend regular training programs where a month can go by without a PowerPoint slide in sight. Watching videos, playing out business scenes and practicing new techniques in safety are more commonplace practices.
Home-baked fresh bread and jams start the morning, and Tuesdays are probably now up there with Fridays as being the best day of the week. Not a common reaction to business training – just as I planned!
