We have gone from nights in the pub talking about starting a business advice service to operating nationally in just 18 months. During months of planning while working in a full-time job, we set up a robust business plan.
This period involved every spare minute sending mail shots, and networking after work. Referencing books by Duncan Bannatyne, we set up a Yellow Pages advert and Google Plus page. We had a truck load of determination to kickstart our kitchen table business.
Our home has become a 24/7 office and 12-hour days are the norm. Starting and running a business now requires blogs, mail shots, selling and finance expertise in equal measures.
Sharing critical tasks has been vital and we have avoided procrastination and distractions to grow awareness in a cost-effective style.
Our site offers tips to others on their journey from idea to startup, which has won us some useful advocates. Our ethics remain as strong as ever, and we have supported other accountants and HR startups, which we feel has enhanced our reputation.
