Carola Becker, founder of Life is Good Health and Fitness, explains why the business should win the home business category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition.
I am a nutritional therapist and fitness instructor and by offering a unique combination of a fully personalised nutrition plan together with a supporting exercise routine, I can accommodate my clients’ individual needs and capabilities to ensure success in leading to them having a healthier life.
The plan is based on a comprehensive questionnaire and food diary which is available on my website. The client fills in both and sends them over to me by email, giving me a full picture of their lifestyle, personal circumstances, nutritional needs and deficiencies. I send the plan back to the client by email within four working days.
The business is run online-only but I am in contact with my clients by Skype and email on a regular basis to support them. I am using my conservatory at home as an office and offer personal consultations for a small number of local clients. The advantage is that potential clients can be based anywhere in the world. Besides supporting clients in the UK, I have started working with clients in Germany. At the same time I am able to keep costs down as I don’t need to rent premises.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
