Home Bargains follows Asda with golden 'no touch' rule inside stores to stop coronavirus

Home Bargains customers have been told not to touch items they aren't buying.

The chain follows the likes of Asda in implementing the 'no touch' rules inside stores in a bid to stop coronavirus spreading.

The Liverpool Echo reports a notice was placed outside a store in the city reminding customers to, when possible, only touch items they were going to buy.

The store is asking shoppers to take a common sense approach to remain mindful of this rule.

It is the latest in a string of safety measures inside shops across the country.

Many supermarkets have introduced perspex barriers at checkouts, as well as capping the number of customers inside at once.

Last month, Asda updated its website to also ask customers not to touch items they don't intend to purchase.

The message read: "There will also be clear signage, directional barriers and floor markings to help you move around our store easily and maintain a two-metre distance from other customers and our colleagues.

"You are allowed to bring your children and other members of your household to our stores, but we ask that you keep this to a minimum to help us maintain social distancing advice.

"We’re asking customers to only touch items they intend to purchase and to use cashless payment wherever they can to minimise contact."
