Home Alone star looks unrecognisable during late-night London stroll

A beloved Home Alone star looked virtually unrecognisable as she embarked on a late-night stroll in London on Wednesday.

To this very day, Home Alone, which starred Macaulay Culkin as little Kevin who is left to protect his home against dim-witted burglars after accidentally being left behind during a family trip to Paris, has long been a wholesome classic since its release in 1990.

And one of its central star cast who was seen out in the British capital was none other than Catherine O'Hara, who played Kevin's mother Kate McAllister, in the family classic.

The 69 year old Canadian-American actress, who was joined by her good friend and fellow actor Richard E. Grant, cut a stylish figure in striped monochrome trousers and a chic pink blazer atop a polka dot blouse.

After Catherine's success in Home Alone, she reprised her role in the film's sequel, Home Along 2: Lost In New York, another runaway success at the box office.

Given the success of the film, it was recently surprising to learn that the actress almost missed out on the iconic role.

Cinematographer Julio Macat, who worked on the original Home Alone film, explained that Elizabeth Perkins was originally in the running.

"John Hughes asked her to be the Catherine O'Hara role, and she wasn't able to do it, she was busy," Julio revealed in a new interview.

The filmmaker went on to tie the knot with 62-year-old Elizabeth, who starred in another iconic Christmas film.

"We met on a movie called Miracle On 34th Street, so we would have met four or five years before. We met on the movie, and we fell in love," he said in an interview with Metro.

Meanwhile, Catherine's early career also saw her become a household name thanks to roles in 1985's After Hours, 1988's Beetlejuice, and 1993's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Catherine has been steadily working in the industry since and won even more recognition thanks to her role of Moira Rose in the recent beloved and critically acclaimed Schitt's Creek, for which she earned an Emmy in 2020.

In Schitt's Creek, Catherine stars alongside Eugene Levy as a powerful couple who suddenly find themselves completely broke.

Their only remaining asset is a small town called Schitt's Creek which they purchased years ago as a joke.

Given that they have no other choice, they are forced to move there and leave their pampered lives behind alongside their spoiled adult children, who were played by Annie Murphy and Dan Levy.

All four cast members impressively swept the Emmy's comedy category in 2020 by picking up gongs.
