Holyrood Park Edinburgh: Dozens of police officers descend on park in hunt for missing teen

People getting their coronavirus daily exercise were left surprised on Monday evening (18 May) as dozens of police officers descended on Holyrood Park from multiple directions to search the popular beauty spot.

Our reporter James Delaney snapped several photos of the large-scale police operation, saying that it involved six police officers initially who were travelling in three cars, which were parked on Queens Drive. The officers continued on foot.

Around four officers headed into the park in the direction of Saint Anthony's Chapel Ruins, while two moved towards Salisbury Crags.

It was later revealed that the officers had been looking for a missing teenager, who has since been found.

Our reporter said that the police officers spent quite a lot of time "pointing at various things."

Two riot vans then arrived, which drove slowly through Holyrood Park before parking under some trees.

The police were seen to leave at around 6pm, with walkers left unsure what had actually taken place.

Police Scotland explained: "Police Scotland was conducting activity in the Arthur's Seat area of Edinburgh this afternoon as part of a search for a missing teenage boy, who was traced safely."
