Emergency services attended the scene of a disturbance in the Holylands early on Thursday morning.

Police say they were called to the incident following reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage at Agincourt Avenue on February 3.

Wheelie bins were set on fire during the disturbance.

PSNI Neighbourhood Inspector McGrady said: “Police received reports at approximately 3.35am that a crowd of people were causing a disturbance in the area. A number of bins were also set alight. Our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fire was extinguished.

“Our investigation is underway and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area or may have captured CCTV or dash cam footage to contact Police on 101 quoting reference 161 03/02/22.”

Alternatively, you can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: "1 Fire Appliance from Central Fire Station attended the incident.

"Firefighters were called to reports of 3 commercial wheelie bins on fire early this morning.

"Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 04.25am and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition."
