Holyhead crossbow attack: Man shot fixing satellite dish in critical condition

A 74-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot with a crossbow in the early hours of this morning.

The man was trying to fix a satellite dish outside his home in a remote area of Holyhead, Wales, when he was hit.

He managed to stagger his way into his house at 12.34am and call an ambulance.

He suffered "horrendous, life-changing injuries" and was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor by ambulance.

It was only after doctors found the bolt as he was examined that they realised someone had tried to kill him.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Kearney from North Wales Police said they are looking for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.
