Holy Cross High School celebrate pupils at annual senior awards ceremony

Holy Cross High School in Hamilton has celebrated their pupils success at their annual senior school awards ceremony.

This was the first time since 2019 that the ceremony took place face-to-face and it was certainly worth the wait.

Principal Guest was Mr Tony McDaid, the Executive Director of Education Resources at South Lanarkshire Council, who spoke very warmly and enthusiastically to the young people about their achievements; aswell as to the parents and carers about their support of the secondary school.

Joining Mr McDaid in the presentation platform was Ms Stephanie Callaghan, MSP, Mrs Justine Docherty, the Chair of the Parent Council and Fr Colin Hughes, the School Chaplain of Holy Cross High School.

Many other invited guests came along to support the young people of Holy Cross High School including Primary Head Teachers, former staff members and other senior staff from South Lanarkshire Council.

School Captains Ian Benson and Ellie Gray delivered The Welcome and Vote of Thanks respectively; while Vice Captains Emma Murdoch and Kara Gilfillan presented gifts to Mr McDaid, Ms Callaghan, Mrs Docherty and Fr Hughes.

Head Teacher, John Reilly told Lanarkshire Live: "It was marvellous to have our Awards Ceremony face-to-face and have so many of our young people, parents, carers and family members back in the school building to join in the success.

"It was a fantastic evening and a tremendous celebration of everything that is good in Holy Cross High School. Mr McDaid delivered an outstanding address, engaging with all, while praising all of the excellent work which takes place in school.

"Our young people took centre stage, of course, and were thrilled to receive recognition for all of their achievements and celebrate with their families. A great night for the Holy Cross High School Community."
