Holt says his side have to be ready for Hamilton

Gary Holt says he has moved on from Livingston’s cup exit and is looking forward to Hamilton Accies on Saturday.

A big factor in Livingston’s success since Holt took over is their ability to bounce back from disappointment and the gaffer is urging his players to put Rangers behind them and look toward the game with Accies.

He said: “We lost the game, whether it’s right or wrong - it’s done. I’m not going to hash over it. I always believe that once the 90 minutes is done, it’s done.

“It’s one of those in the game that we have a style of play and we want to stamp our authority on the game and I thought it was a good game although we came out on the wrong end of it.

“We’re out the cup and it’s part and parcel of football that people get asked their opinions on things. I wish them good luck, they’re in the semi-final and it will be a great occasion for their club.”

Livi have come in for criticism for their style of play in some quarters recently but Holt believes that is unfair. He continued: “Everyone has got a style of play and it’s how you try and combat that and how you try and use your style of play to win the game, your threats.

“We know how Hamilton play, they know how we play and it’s like a chess match. Every game is different and got it’s own challenges.”

Matija Sarkic performed heroics in goal against Rangers midweek and the gaffer told the Courier that is yet undecided who will be in the sticks for the Accies match at the weekend.

The game looks like it has come to early for Chris Erskine and Holt doesn’t expect any of the other injured players to make it back for the Hamilton game but he said Lyndon Dykes is also a concern: “He is struggling, we all saw he got a sore one when he went through. His ankle has swollen up really badly and lesser man would have come off. It shows what he’s about and his mentality that he wanted to play. His ankle is probably telling him this morning he should have come off. I think he’ll be touch and go.”
