Holt issues rallying cry to the people of West Lothian amid coronavirus outbreak

Gary Holt has put football aside and called on the local community in West Lothian to support one and other.

Speaking after the SFA and SPFL suspended the football calendar due to fears over coronavirus the Livingston gaffer challenged the local community to help one and other through the crisis.

He said: “In general we always talk about supporting your local community, supporting your local businesses and all needing to come on board and help each other.

“Airlines are struggling, massive corporations are struggling so how do you think a local barber shop feels, who might have had the business a hundred years, but suddenly have to take time off work to look after their kids and they have no income coming in?

“It is going to have a massive knock on effect and I think this is the time were we will see if we are a good community, a good country who do back each other, or is it a society where we say I am alright my business is running great. Hopefully it won’t be, hopefully it will be the latter and we are all pushing through to help each other.

“It is massive, totally massive. We all need to come together and help each other. It is not about pointing fingers and laughing at each other, it is about helping and I think we are going to need that in the coming months."
