Hollywood Vampires hit with lawsuit over scrapped slovakia concert

Johnny Depp's band are being sued over a cancelled concert in 2023

A Slovak promoter is suing the Hollywood Vampires, claiming he never received a refund after their 2023 show was abruptly cancelled over safety concerns.

Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry are facing a new legal battle after a European concert promoter filed a lawsuit accusing the rock supergroup of failing to return a six‑figure advance for a cancelled performance.

The group was named in a federal complaint lodged in Texas, despite the dispute centring on a July 2023 show scheduled for the Olympic Fields venue in Slovakia.

According to documents seen by TMZ, the promoter argues that Texas has jurisdiction because of the group’s business ties.

In the filing, the promoter claims he paid the trio $277,000 (£209,000) upfront for the gig and requested the money back when the event was called off, but says he never received a response. Lawyers for the band are pushing to have the case dismissed, insisting there is no legal basis for it to be heard in Texas.

The Hollywood Vampires pulled the plug on the show at the last minute, citing serious concerns about the venue’s readiness and overall safety.

At the time, they issued a statement explaining that the site was “incomplete” and “unsafe for both the band and the general public" and they oped to return when schedules allowed.

The promoter also referenced Depp’s brief hospitalisation for an unspecified medical issue around the same period, though the band maintained that the venue’s condition — not health concerns — prompted the cancellation.

The case now hinges on whether the Texas court agrees to hear the dispute or strikes it entirely.
