Hollywood superstar Michael Fassbender details the Liverpool experience that 'blew his mind at Anfield'

Hollywood actor and Liverpool fan Michael Fassbender has revealed the special Anfield night which stunned him.

The Irish-German film star was in attendance as Jurgen Klopp's men dispossessed Barcelona of their place in the Champions League final.

Liverpool ran out 4-0 winners with Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum's producing superhero performances as the Reds overcame a 3-0 deficit.

In a recent appearance on Absolute Radio alongside fellow X-Men actor James McAvoy, Fassbender explained how it was "the most inspiring 90 minutes" he had seen.

Radio host Dave Berry asked the the Oscar-nominee to describe one standout experience from watching Liverpool play in just 30 seconds.

Fassbender quickly got to work, he told: "Okay, Anfield a couple of weeks ago. Semi-final against Barcelona, at home obviously.

"And just incredible I couldn't believe it. I thought yeah possibly score three goals but to not have Barcelona score, that was the bit that just blew my mind. [Liverpool] totally smothered [Lionel] Messi.

"The most inspiring 90 minutes I've seen in a long time. Just in terms of everything like approach to life, anything is possible, put your heart into it and yeah."

Berry then sounds the end of the challenge as he interrupts: "You're out!"

To which the 42-year-old neatly concludes: "You'll never walk alone."

Liverpool went on to claim their sixth European title in Madrid, but the May evening under the lights at Anfield will live long in the memory of supporters, including the talented Fassbender.
