Hollywood stars out in force as Sam Mendes' WWI epic 1917 films at Govan Graving Docks

Hollywood A-listers have been out in force at Govan Graving Docks this week as filming continues for the latest big budget blockbuster.

Today, celebrity spotters would have been spoiled for choice as actors Zero Dark Thirty's Mark Strong and George Mackay joined director Sam Mendes to shoot scenes for Steven Spielberg’s WWI epic 1917.

As reported on Glasgow Live , the crew has been building the impressive set around the ruined docks for months - but the cameras got rolling yesterday, with road closures across Govan as a result.

We're all still waiting for a wee glimpse of cast members Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch and Richard Madden, but these famous faces are more than welcomed here in Scotland's biggest city.

Will the others come to Glasgow over the next few days? If you happen upon them, let us know!

Meantime, take a look at our picture gallery of the latest images from the Clydeside.

Filming wraps on Friday (June 14), although the crew have use of the docks until the end of the month.

1917 is scheduled for release in the UK on January 10, 2020.
