Withnail and I star Richard E Grant has responded to Welsh fans' demand and added a date for his 'Audence With' tour this spring. The recent Bafta host is embarking on a tour in support of his new book, A Pocketful of Happiness.
The writing of the book came after Grant's wife of almost 40 years, Joan Washington, died in 2021, and his beloved other half set him a challenge: to find a pocketful of happiness in every day. The book and the show will see Richard regale his fans with both contemporary stories and recollections of his remarkable life and glittering career as his way of honouring Joan's challenge.
Oscar-nominee Richard, who is also known for his roles in Loki, Star Wars, Gosford Park and loads more, will be at Cardiff's New Theatre on Sunday, May 28 with tickets going on sale on Friday, March 17 at 10am. He posted on his social media this morning: "As requested, managed to secure a theatre in Wales - ‘tidy’ !"

Last month Richard fronted the Bafta film awards 2023 where during the In Memorium segment he became visibly upset. Addressing the star-studded audience at London's Royal Festival Hall, Grant said: "Tonight is a celebration of film in all its mad, sad, funny, frightening and thought-provoking forms. Let's take this opportunity to pay tribute to those members of the global film community that we sadly lost over the last 12 months."
The veteran actor became visibly emotional as he spoke and needed to take a brief moment to compose himself as he attempted to stifle tears. He apologised before continuing. Richard has spoken many times about Joan, with who he shared a daughter, Olivia, and has been praised by fans for the way he has negotiated his grief.
