Hollywood star Lin Manuel Miranda is back in Wales and loving being a tourist

He took Cardiff by storm last year by joining in a local karaoke night and now Mary Poppins Returns and Hamilton star Lin Manuel Miranda is back in Wales and loving it just as much.

Miranda is back on Welsh soil for  filming of the second series of His Dark Materials, a co-production between HBO and BBC, and the first series of which will air this autumn.

And the creator of musical smash, Hamilton, hasn't wasted any time getting to know his temporary home a bit more.

Last year the actor and his family explored Cardiff's parks, Caerphilly Castle and Raglan Castle. He also sent fans into a frenzy when he turned up at local pub night, Jane's Calamity and performed songs from Les Miserables and his 100 Tony-Award-winning show, Hamilton.

This time the Mirandas have gone further west and are taking a look at the Wales Coastal Path and St David's.

And Lin himself took a jaunt to the NXT UK TakeOver event in Cardiff which saw Wales' first WWE champs crowned and pop into Shake Shack for a Welsh cake ice cream treat. The actor/composer has briefly gone back to the US, but will return to Wales for more filming next week.

The first series of His Dark Materials, based on Philip Pullman's trilogy, will air in the next few months, also stars It: Chapter 2's James McAvoy, Dafne Keen from Logan and Ruth Wilson.
