Hollywood's biggest stars came together on Friday for a joyous celebration at the American Film Institute Awards. The annual invite-only luncheon, held in Beverly Hills, honored outstanding films and television shows with well-deserved praise and recognition.

The event was filled with laughter, hugs, and camaraderie among the industry's best. Margot Robbie, Meryl Streep, and Leonardo DiCaprio were just a few of the many luminaries in attendance. The atmosphere was light and jubilant as everyone present basked in their collective success.

Institute President Bob Gazzale welcomed the audience with a humorous remark, referring to the occasion as the 'annual AFI group hug.' He assured the attendees that losing was not part of the equation at this event, emphasizing the supportive nature of the gathering.

Throughout the luncheon, stars engaged in lively conversations and exchanged pleasantries. Robbie shared a conversation with director Christopher Nolan while her 'Barbie' co-star, America Ferrera, received a warm handshake from Nolan. Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan, stars of 'Maestro,' enjoyed each other's company on the red carpet, and Ali Wong, from 'Beef,' caught up with Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix.

The purpose of the AFI Awards is to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere without the pressures of competition. Gazzale explained that the event aimed to commend and appreciate the talent and creativity of the industry rather than pit individuals against each other. The emphasis was placed on celebrating a shared love for filmmaking and television.

A total of ten films were honored at the event, including 'American Fiction,' 'Barbie,' 'The Holdovers,' 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' 'Maestro,' 'May December,' 'Oppenheimer,' 'Past Lives,' 'Poor Things,' and 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.' The achievements of these films were recognized through heartfelt speeches and clips showcasing their brilliance.

In addition to the films, ten exceptional television shows were also acknowledged during the luncheon. These included 'Abbott Elementary,' 'The Bear,' 'Beef,' 'Jury Duty,' 'The Last of Us,' 'The Morning Show,' 'Only Murders in the Building,' 'Poker Face,' 'Reservation Dogs,' and 'Succession.' Each of these shows exemplified excellence in storytelling, acting, and production.

Celebrities such as Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Jennifer Aniston, Robert Downey Jr., Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, Quinta Brunson, Lily Gladstone, Ayo Edebiri, and Tracee Ellis Ross added their star power to the event, making it even more special.

The luncheon culminated with a benediction by the renowned Oscar, Emmy, and Tony award-winning actress Ellen Burstyn, who expressed her gratitude to be part of such an extraordinary community. Burstyn praised the honorees and thanked everyone for celebrating the best in the industry without turning it into a competitive affair. Her closing words resonated with the shared appreciation for the art of filmmaking and television.

The American Film Institute Awards not only recognize outstanding achievements but also serve as a reminder of the supportive and collaborative nature of the industry. It is a time for Hollywood's finest to come together, celebrate each other's work, and inspire the next wave of creative talent. As the applause subsided and the luncheon came to a close, the sense of camaraderie and appreciation lingered, leaving a lasting impression on all those in attendance.
