Critics might have panned the new novel by Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James , but there are a billion reasons the author is already in talks for a film adaptation.
Erotic fiction The Mister, which has already sold an impressive 52,000 copies in its first week on sale, is already being lined up for a big screen version - and could even get it’s own line of sex toys.
After the Fifty Shades trilogy took £1billion at the Box Office, it’s no wonder Hollywood producers are already queuing up to take on the tome about a British Lord who embarks on an affair with his Albanian cleaner. Some lesser kind reviewers have called it “excruciating”.
“People are asking, yes. I have been asked,” admits the author, coyly. “It is a big commitment.”
Another big commitment is the range of merchandise she is looking to release, too.
In the new novel, James warns: “The sex is different.” So there are no whips and chains.
But she admits her favourite product collaboration on Fifty Shades was with sex toy company Lovehoney.
“The most fun we had was working with adult sex toys,” she remembers. “The meetings we had around our kitchen table you could not believe.
“We have meetings next week - so there will be fun stuff coming.”
Sex certainly sells.
