Hollywood Bowl applies to open in Broadmarsh Centre until 1.30am every day

The creation of a ten-pin bowling alley inside Nottingham's intu Broadmarsh Centre has taken a step forward as a premises license application was issued for the project.

Hollywood Bowl will become one of the centre's main attractions when work on its £89 million redevelopment is completed in 2021.

According to the application for a license, submitted by the Original Bowling Company Limited, the alley would open from 9am-1.30am every day, will sell alcohol from 11am-1am and will also provide "regulated entertainment".

The licensing application sent to Nottingham City Council has come as work continues on the Broadmarsh, which will eventually include glass frontages and a Light Cinema. It will also include a mix of restaurants and high street and independent retailers.

A busy walkway through the centre has now also closed overnight while the huge redevelopment takes place. It will not re-open until 2021.

Hollywood Bowl signed up to be the second leisure anchor for the Broadmarsh in 2017.

At the time, Laurence Keen, the company's chief financial officer, said: "Intu is leading the way in driving growth in retail and leisure, and its prime, high footfall destinations enable us to execute our new centre opening strategy across its UK-wide portfolio.

"We’re excited to be bringing the Hollywood Bowl brand to one of the UK’s most popular city centres and be a part of the redevelopment of intu Broadmarsh.”

People have until Thursday, July 18, to have their say on the proposal.
