Hollywood actress Emily Blunt delights aspiring young Mayo actors with visit to drama group

Hollywood star Emily Blunt delighted a group of aspiring young Irish actors when she dropped into their rehearsal.

The kids of Kilmoremoy Drama Group got a huge surprise when Emily showed up to praise them on their hard work.

She even took pictures with some of the children and asked to watch some of their scenes.

Emily, 36, is in Mayo filming new movie Wild Mountain Thyme with Jamie Dornan and locals got wind of her arrival.

The father of young actor and director of the drama group, Jack Cronin, 15, approached her to ask if she could meet the group.

Jack was overjoyed when Emily agreed to come along on Tuesday evening to watch a rehearsal of their upcoming musical production 'Into the Woods'.

And as London-born Emily starred in the film version of 'Into the Woods', she had lots of advice to give the cast.

Jack, who founded the drama group when he was just 12 years old, told The Western People of his delight when the superstar agreed.

He said: "She was very good and very kind.

"She was talking to all the kids and took photos with them all and asked to see another scene from the show. She spent about half an hour with us altogether."

The Kilmoremoy Drama Group production of Into The Woods will take at the Ballina Arts Centre at 7pm on Saturday, November 23, and 2pm on Sunday, November 24, 2019.
