Hollywood actors takeover of Wrexham football club being made into a TV series

The story of the acquisition of Wrexham football club by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney is being made into a documentary series by a Disney-owned cable.

According to publication, The Hollywood Reporter, cable channel FX has commissioned two seasons of Welcome to Wrexham.

From Hollywood to Wales, the pitch to the changing room, the front office to the pub, Welcome to Wrexham will track Rob and Ryan’s crash course in football club ownership and the inextricably connected fates of a team and a town counting on two actors to bring some much-needed hope and change.

“Rob and Ryan will take fans inside the sport as never before, pairing their genuine love for the game with the welcome challenge of building on the heritage of this club.”

Reynolds and McElhenney completed a 100% ownership acquisition of the National League club, which plays at the Racecoure, in February from the Wrexham Supporters Trust.

The actors have made a £2m investment in the club under the terms of the deal.

Broadwalk Pictures is producing Welcome to Wrexham. McElhenney, Reynolds, Nick Frenkel and John Henion executive produce.
