Hollywood A-listers heading to Glasgow to shoot new action movie Borderland

A star-studded cast of A-list actors is coming to Glasgow as filming for a new Hollywood action film gets underway later this year.

John Boyega, Felicity Jones, Jack Reynor, Sam Claflin, and Jodie Turner-Smith star in the movie, titled Borderland.

Directed by Charles and Thomas Guard, the film will tell the story of an IRA operative whose wife is shot dead in Ireland and his hunt for her killer, the Daily Record reports.

It will lead him to London as part of an Active Service Unit to wreak chaos, but he will be focused on his personal mission to avenge his wife's death.

The movie is based on the book The Road to Balcombe Street by Dr Steven S Moyse, with shooting set to begin in September of this year.

Tom and Charles Guard said: "Borderland is a vengeance fuelled chase movie, fusing some pulse ticking action with a powerful message for our times.

"We’re thrilled that the script, driven as much by character as it is by plot, has attracted such a first rate cast."

It is the latest in a string of major blockbuster movies to be filmed in Glasgow. Most recently, Cold War-era film Tetris, starring Taron Egerton, about the making of the video game has scenes filmed in the city.

Meanwhile, last year production of the new Batman film, starring Robert Pattinson, was seen filming in Glasgow's Necropolis.
