Hollyoaks viewers disgusted as 'vile' Laurie gaslights wife Sinead after raping her

Hollyoaks took a dark turn as Sinead O'Connor was raped by her husband Laurie as punishment for kissing former flame Sami Maalik.

Viewers were left horrified when Laurie claimed that he 'rightfully' attacked her because he deserved 'love and respect'.

Sinead, played by Stephanie Davis , was in tears as she confronted Laurie over the despicable act in the Hollyoaks spoilers for next week - a harrowing rape ordeal and surprise engagement on Tuesday night.

She bravely fought through her shock at the attack as he denied his wrongdoing, telling Laurie: "It takes two people to argue, but one person to rape."

Those watching the episode took to social media to praise Sinead but were quickly left disgusted with Laurie's actions, manipulating her into believing he hadn't done anything wrong.

After discovering that Sinead had sought comfort in Sami, the married couple had returned home arguing.

The bedroom door closed ominously as Laurie raped his wife in retaliation before going on to abuse her, manipulating her into thinking it never happened.

One person wrote on Twitter : "Laurie is actually disgusting. Feel so bad for Sinead."

"Anyone else wanna punch Laurie right in the face?! Absolute scum bag," another added.

"How can Laurie justify what he’s done! He is vile," said a third, as a fourth agreed: "Laurie is so VILE."

After refusing to speak to Sinead about what he'd done, she threatened him with the police, saying that she would get justice by telling them he had attacked her.

But her spiteful husband claimed that her prostitute past would make it unlikely the police would even believe her story.

As the pair fought Laurie managed to convince his wife that the rape didn't even happen.

Carrying on his manipulation Laurie broke down in tears, sobbing to Sinead that he didn't want it to become between them as he was prepared to fight for her and her daughter Lily by offering to adopt her.
