Hollyoaks bosses deny fining star forced to self-isolate over Covid exposure

Hollyoaks bosses have denied that cast and crew could be forced to pay a £1,000 fine if they need to self-isolate due to coronavirus.

It was reported that anyone who works on the show and has to quarantine for two weeks due to testing positive for Covid, or from being in contact with someone, could have to pay the fine.

However, a rep for the Channel 4 show, which films in Liverpool, has denied there is any truth in these allegations.

They said: "It is untrue to suggest Hollyoaks would fine anybody for having to self-isolate.

"The safety and wellbeing of Hollyoaks cast and crew is paramount as is the need to produce Hollyoaks in a safe environment.

"Any breach of government guidelines that could put the health of others at risk could be the subject of appropriate disciplinary action."

Hollyoaks recently announced that producer Bryan Kirkwood would be replaced by BBC producer Lucy Allan.

Lime Pictures, which produces the soap, said Lucy will be taking on the role as the new Head of Continuing Drama and Executive Producer.

Lucy, who has previously worked on BBC shows such as The Worst Witch and The Dumping Ground, will steer Hollyoaks from January 2021.

Speaking following her appointment, Lucy said: "It's a hugely exciting time to be joining Lime Pictures as Head of Continuing Drama.

"To arrive at Hollyoaks as it reaches its milestone of 25 years on screen was an opportunity too good to miss.

"Thanks to Bryan and his team I have inherited a show that is loved by its audience and I will relish the chance to move it forward into its next exciting chapter."
