Hollyoaks star Sophie Porley rushed into surgery after doctors discover ovarian cyst

Former Hollyoaks actress Sophie Porley has been rushed into surgery after doctors discovered that she had an ovarian cyst.

The soap star, 29, had been trying to freeze her eggs when medical professionals made the discovery.

Sharing the news with her followers, she explained why she had been absent from the platform.

Posting a photo of herself in scrubs as she gave the camera a thumbs up, she wrote: "Thanks for your messages!

"I was MIA yesterday as I was having an ovarian cyst removed.

"Dm for details."

She has been documenting her journey freezing her eggs, even showing how she injected herself with a needle.

Sophie went on to explain that doctors had decided to remove the cyst to help her with the egg freezing process.

She said: "I got my blood tests and scan back- my hormones are still not completely ideal but they have improved so after chatting to the doctor we decided to give it a try this month and hope for the best!

"It may just mean that we don’t collect as many eggs as they would hope to.

"Something that I didn’t enjoy is injecting myself for the first time. They don’t show you in clinic how to do this. You get sent home with everything you need and a YouTube video. I’m not going to lie, I was sh***ing myself and there were a few tears."

"I also had a cyst on my ovary so they booked me in to have that operated on yesterday. It all went well, I was just pretty sleepy all day from the sedation.

Sophie also admitted that she found the process a little "isolating" and "overwhelming".

She said: "They do this all day everyday so I’m sure it’s just another day to them. Whereas it’s overwhelming and new for me," Sophie wrote.

"But I’m two days in to doing my own injections and it’s already easier and It really didn’t hurt, it was more the thought of it.

"So now I will be going to the clinic daily for blood tests so they can tell me exactly how much of each medication I should be injecting each day. And every other day I have a scan. So it’s quite intense."
