Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has shared her own shock at learning her character Theresa McQueen is involved in the soap's blackmail storyline.
The McQueens have been targeted over their secrets for weeks, in exchange for money.
Mercedes knows her former enemy Silas Blissett is involved after a phone call recently, but no one believes her.
Thursday's E4 episode revealed the shocking truth though that Theresa, Mercedes' cousin, is one of the blackmailers.
But she's not working alone, and is actually in a relationship with former village resident Seth Costello.
Miles Higson's character has reprised the role after nine years - but Theresa has no idea they're also working with Silas.
Viewers learned the truth on Thursday, while the family are yet to uncover the betrayal.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror about the shocking episode, actress Jorgie confessed she too was kept in the dark about some parts of the plot.
She explained: "I was actually shocked that Seth was coming back because he was hidden as a massive secret, even to me, so when I read the storylines I was like, 'wow, blast from the past'.
"I think the twist of it is amazing. Theresa loves love, she’s really loved up with Seth and she’d do anything for a man, even go behind her family’s back!"
But she is yet to find out her man is also working with Silas, and this may lead to conflict.
Jorgie teased: "She hates Silas, she knows everything that he’s done to her family and everyone, so she is distraught.
"Seth is a man that she trusted and she’s in love with, so it puts her in two minds and makes her question certain choices she’s made."
It's not yet clear when the McQueens will find out about the lovers, so viewers should stay tuned!
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with the next episode at 7pm on E4.
