Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe hopes to have more children as a single mum

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe revealed she would like to have more children as a single mother.

The actress, who split from Geordie Shore star Greg Lake after eight years in 2020, shares son Daye, four, with him.

Jennifer, who is best known for playing Mercedes McQueen, wouldn't 'rule it out at 50' as long as her 'parts are still working'.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "Definitely. As long as my parts are still working, I wouldn’t rule it out at 50!

"I’ve actually always been very keen on adoption and I’d do that as a single parent."

At the moment, Jennifer is 'totally single' after breaking up with ex Chris Eagles, 36, in September last year.

"I love being independent and able to take care of my own s**t! Somebody asked me the other day if I was seeing anyone, and I said I was single," she added.

"They looked at me with a little bit of pity! But right now, there’s no place I’d rather be."

It was reported that she split from her footballer boyfriend Chris in September.

"Jen and Chris haven't had the easiest of romances and now it's all off again," a source told The Sun at the time.

"They've had a few rows recently and Jen has had enough. She's putting herself first for once, rather than bending over backwards for Chris."

Before dating Chris, she was with Greg for eight years.

She wrote on Instagram at the time of their breakup: "Greg and I decided to part ways amicably a couple of months ago.

"We remain friends and we both will continue to happily co-parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times.

"These midwives came in that were absolutely incredible, they came in as his heart rate dropped. I think the contractions came a little bit too soon and were quite long

"His heart rate dropped and these midwives came in and were holding my hands and made me feel like superwoman. They said, 'come on, you're the best pusher in the North East'. Even if there was something wrong I wouldn’t have known about it."
