Hollyoaks star Emma Rigby's career and Merseyside link

Hollyoaks star Emma Rigby has put together an impressive catalogue of roles on screen.

Emma was born in St Helens in 1989 and attended De La Salle school in the local area. At the young age of 14, she began working professionally as an actress, starring in Born and Bred.

It would be her next role, however that would propel the now 32-year-old to stardom. In 2005, Emma landed a role as Hannah Ashworth in Hollyoaks - despite being only 15 at the time. This is where many of us became familiar with the actress as she wowed viewers with her performances, including an anorexia storyline that won her Best Actress at the 2008 British Soap Awards.

After leaving the soap in 2010, Emma went on to work on several projects - including appearing on the West End in Wolf Boy. Alongside acting, she has modelled for over 10 years, shooting a campaign with the photographer Rory Lewis in late February 2010.

In 2012 Rigby starred in the six-part drama series Prisoners' Wives, along with Jonas Armstrong. The show's first episode aired on January 31 2012 with Emma playing Gemma Roscoe, a young pregnant girl whose life falls apart when her husband is arrested for murder.

In 2015, Emma was Featured in FHM's 'sexiest women of the year'. She has received six award nominations for her acting, with one win.

In 2016, Rigby made a return to British television after a three-year absence with a guest appearance on Death in Paradise. Most recently, she appeared in the film The Power, starring as Babs, in 2021.
